Precious Gift

And I will cherish you all my days for you cherished me enough for this precious gift to be mine πŸŽ„πŸŽ„πŸŽ„πŸŽ„πŸŽ„πŸŒ΄πŸŒ΄πŸŒ΄ Everyone in this season expect some sort of gift, even if it's just a simple wish. Kids especially look forward to receiving lots of goodies. I want to receive a lot of goodiesπŸ˜‰πŸ˜œ. You can even contact me to help with my wish listπŸ˜›. We are celebrating the end of a year and the beginning of a new one. A time of reflection, resolution making, planning and of course enjoymentπŸ’ƒπŸ•Ί and merry making. We are also remembering the great sacrifice God made for the whole world and all humans. the gift of his precious son Jesus Christ. Our God, our Lord, our Master our King and most importantly our Saviour and friend. Even us humans sometimes label people as toxic and cut them off for our peace of mind and comfort but God did not leave us to wander in despair. While we were still very much engaged in the sin, at that critical point he gifted us his son Jesus. Even as we ce...

How He Met Me

Image
… But when the Lord get's ready You've got to move, move, move Hello, I hope your week has been blessed to the Glory of God. Hallelujah! Today's inspiration is coming from my Mom. She has a saying these days; 'my time is past, you are the youth now'.  This statement is an answer to why she's  no longer actively attending evening services and other extra or special programs. Note the key word ACTIVELY. She is attending but the energy she used in some time past has waned. Old age is creeping on her slowly. How vibrant she was during rallies!  Now she's resigned herself to market evangelism. Talking to children and young adults especially who are away from home and live in the market where she sells. The above is a very vivid imagery of her watchword, 'remember your creator in your youth whiles you are strongest'. There is no retirement in Christianity. You are on active duty till the Lord calls you. It is while you are strongest that you can perform ...

Fear and Fire

I didn't know I already had the answer  no I didn't know  but if I had known... Fear is an unpleasant feeling triggered by the perception of pain or danger, real or imagined. It courses through the body like lightening, causing one to react. To either be on the offensive or defensive. I've been plagued by fear quite a number of times. From the childhood fear of being caught in the kitchen enjoying meat not meant for me, to planning my escape from teachers when I was late to school, to surviving robbery attacks. Recently I've been playing hide and seek with pickpockets when I'm walking home in the evenings. One rider stretched the arms back and I thought he was enjoying the crack in this shoulders and that indescribable sweet feeling from stretching. My bag was the target and the whole stretching display a camouflage. The speed with which I jumped awayπŸ˜€, even I was impressed with myself.  So you can see I've had my fair share of this electric feeling called fea...

Not Enough an Excuse.

...death is  not an excuse   Death as we know is inevitable. If Jesus tarries we all will surely die one day. When conversations about death come up or you lose a loved one what is your response and reaction. I was in hearing range of a conversation between friends and one spoke about certain decisions she made because a friend died. I was so shocked, in fact still am but not deeply surprised. People have different coping mechanisms when it comes to dealing with pain and sorrow. Some self-destruct, others shut everyone out and prefer to be secluded. And my latest discovery, some people also create bucket lists. That is not even an issue, the contents and proposed resolutions made sometimes is what is alarming. Like the conversation I overheard, a young person decided to ‘enjoy’ all the things the friend didn’t before dying since the friend died young and same could happen again, he or she wants to die having experienced life. But why didn’t this youth deci...

The Nothings.

Thank you Lord for nothing Thank you Lord for something Thank you Lord for all things Thank you Lord for the small things Thank you Lord for the big things Thank you Lord for the huge things Thank you Lord for the unexpected things Thank you Lord for the expected things And the list goes on and on Cos we have endless things to be thankful for. It is very natural and part of human nature to show gratitude for tangible things. Things we can make reference to, something that can be seen, that can be acknowledged.  We tend to thank the Lord for the big things. Surviving a terrible accident, a life threatening disease, coming back from the theatre (operating room), gaining admission to the dream school, getting married to the ideal person, giving birth and the list goes on and on.  And it is very natural to do so. It is instinctual to get excited and overwhelmed by grand gestures and very unsuspecting events.  There's always 'something' to thank the good Lord for. In the absen...

Swinging on the Fence

Whatever comes after a firm yes or no, is evil. I came across a WhatsApp status that read as follows; We are all being used either by God or the devil. You cannot be in the middle. Who is using you? A whole lot of persons usually answer to questions and enquiries with a 'but' after saying yes or no depending on the question asked. The beatitudes of Matthew chapter five talks a lot about our conduct, relations with others and living to please God, living a fulfilling life that imitates God and showcases his perfectness. It emphasis on living honestly, shying away from evil and living exemplary lives, living perfectly as our God is a perfect God. And so when honesty is being put to the test, when truth is fighting to be established it is black or white. Positive or negative and so an emphatic yes or no is needed. No explanations, no justifications, no supporting arguments needed. In our quest to always justify our actions and beliefs, we have convinced ourselves that nothing is e...

Who is by Your Side?

By my side, by my side I have a very big God oo He's always by my side A very big God oo By my side, by my side. A very simple and popular song that is not so simple. This is a very loaded and powerful song. I have a very big God. As if having a God is not enough, he is even big. And always by my side. Always! It is this confidence that is expressed in the confession yea though I walk through the valley of shadow and death, I fear no evil. Why? For you are with me. He's by my side, right by my side. A very impactful sermon inspired today's write up. The myriad of virtues, privileges and power bestowed on us children of God is usually underutilized or sometimes not even acknowledged.   And I will bless ( do good for, benefit ) those who bless you, a nd I will curse [that is, subject to My wrath and judgement ] the one who curses ( despises, dishonors, has contempt for ) you, Genesis 12:3a (Amplified). As the descendants of Abraham enjoying the blessings of our father, the ab...

Contents of the Container.

We would all agree that a well packaged product, especially food is hard to pass for a shabbily packaged one. Imagine a well garnished grilled tilapia and a burnt almost black tilapia at a buffet, what would be your choice without having a first taste of either. And then after making your choice, taking two small bites of the accompanying banku, you take your first bite of either the delicious looking or burnt tilapia and hmmm! The well garnished one is soggy on the inside! The burnt tilapia is nicely done! There and then you will see and appreciate the power of packaging. What informs your final choice in making a purchase, the destination of a vacation, to accept a job offer, or make any decision? The contents or the container? The speaker who inspired this piece said, whether you buy the milo in a polythene or can, at the end of the day what’s important is that you have milo. If you have an empty can no matter how attractive and in good condition it is in, you have n...

Superficially In Depth

How many encounters have you had with opinionated individuals? Not to generalize but I’m sure you found their stance lacking substance. What was your exasperation quotient? Generally, people with strong views are regarded to be well read, informed, professionals and authorities on the subject they speak or advocate for. They are described as people characterized by conceited assertiveness and dogmatism and usually arrogant. From the above, it can be noted that most opinionated people receive negative perception. And it is in this light that I write to inspire you today. There are hundreds if not thousands of specific individuals who the above presents, they can be found in all spheres of society today. They wield such great influence. They have huge followings who blindly hero worship and adhere to their opinion. Since our definition today says these opinions are shallow, who holds the in-depth information or opinion. ‘tis the Lord, O wondrous story ‘tis ...

The Cats in My House

I am not particularly fond of felines. Of any kind. Extremely not fond. What with their shining multicoloured eyes, claws and inquisitive nature? But I have cats in my house.  Ones that steal my fish and meat, disturb my sleep at night with their baby-like cries. Sometimes even scratch my door as if I owe them. Now why are they interesting enough to warrant a write up you might be wondering. One fine Saturday ago I tasked my under-exercised body to join some fellows to climb the Aburi mountain on foot. This is a very popular trail for exercise enthusiasts. So you can imagine, how frail and tired and with severe aches all over, my scramble for sustenance when I got home. The lightweight that I’m not, I served myself some mouth-watering rice ball with palmnut soup. I settled behind my table under the big veranda and as soon as my finger dipped into the soup a very fierce meow broke the still expectant air of my throat. Yes, you guessed right, the cats in my ho...

The Rush

Our generation is characterized by speed; fast cars, fast internet and even fast foods. It seems the youth are being propelled to move faster than they are already moving. But what exactly is this rush for? Popularity, wealth, status, power or satisfaction.  This rush could have both negatives and positives, but it seems we are always seeing the negative sides. The marriage fever seems to be catching the youth like the plague. The normal complaints; everyone is getting married, my mates from uni are mostly married or engaged, that ugly girl from SHS is married to a rich man with kids, then I too must get married at all cost.  The rationale behind marriage is not to show off neither is it compulsory to get married once you get to a certain age. It is a holy institution designed by God for a purpose. So yes marriage is good but why the rush.  Primary school children these days are engaged in amorous relationships because it seems to be the new norm and in the senior hig...

HEADACHES.

HEADACHES As I write this piece right now, I have a very terrible headache (that is if you believe meπŸ™ƒ), and it got me thinking about what causes headache.  If I had typed this into a search engine I'm sure there will be a ton of responses. But since I had some eye irritation related issues, I always blame my headaches on that.  Others will say they experience headaches when they go hungry for a long time, I have personally experienced this too a few times.  And as a colleague read off my shoulder, he jokingly asked me if I'm sure I'm not constipated.  I laughed really hard at this because that never even came to mind initially. But this is what I learnt from my headache, its a warning and a signal. A warning that something is wrong somewhere and a signal that an action that has been neglected has to be taken. We usually throw the phrase ‘…becoming a headache’ around when things repeatedly don't go our way.  When a headache sounds a warning, it is cautioning yo...

TAKING STEPS.

We’ve heard this quote a million times, ‘a journey of thousand miles begins with a step’, yet it’s truthfulness cannot be overemphasized.  Every single thing that we do in life an action has to be taken. Also in making a decision an effort has to be made, a step.  Basically in all we do the first step, effort, intention something, has to be made. In building a structure, regardless of its purpose, a step has to be taken. A decision has to be made to suit the purpose, location and style.  Whether it will be for private or commercial use and if private or personal, would it accommodate guests, what type of guests will you be accepting into your sanctuary?  If the number of available options are considered are and can be overwhelming, one might decide not to begin the project at all or procrastinate. I met a man who told me that where you are born determines the religion you eventually believe in and practice. But lets build on this, I believe there are levels of growth...

FUTILE PLANNING

Thoughts, actions, decisions, utterings and murmurings all leads to an end. The end is for certain goals, objectives and visions to materialize.  For these great visions to come to fruition, there is the need for plans to be made.  A road map of how and when certain actions that will lead to the eventual success of the initial thought or idea will be taken. What exactly is planning? Is it only when you take a sheet and give an outline of your actions or as soon as the idea drops, you have a plan and so you’ve planned? A plan is a set of intended actions, usually mutually related, through which one expects to achieve a goal whiles planning is the act of formulating of a course of action.   We plan for our benefit not so? So what happens when our plans don’t benefit us? I made a list sometime back of all that I’ll be spending money on, a very thorough list I must say, made with careful consideration, with tables that would depict spending progress and all. Fo...
