FUTILE PLANNING

Thoughts, actions, decisions, utterings and murmurings all leads to an end. The end is for certain goals, objectives and visions to materialize.

For these great visions to come to fruition, there is the need for plans to be made.

A road map of how and when certain actions that will lead to the eventual success of the initial thought or idea will be taken.

What exactly is planning? Is it only when you take a sheet and give an outline of your actions or as soon as the idea drops, you have a plan and so you’ve planned?

A plan is a set of intended actions, usually mutually related, through which one expects to achieve a goal whiles planning is the act of formulating of a course of action.

We plan for our benefit not so? So what happens when our plans don’t benefit us?

I made a list sometime back of all that I’ll be spending money on, a very thorough list I must say, made with careful consideration, with tables that would depict spending progress and all.

Fortunately, or not, the expected money delayed and was later doubled making my head swell with the amount of money available to me now. Two times what I’m expecting.

After carefully spending according to my budget the balance after spending could not be properly accounted for. They were spent on things that brought about no real benefits and so what was the plenty plenty planning for?

Here is my argument, plans are not set in stone except for the plans of the Lord. Even that is subject to change through diligent prayer.

We should be able to adapt and change our ideas to reflect changing times, new technology or better ideas that might crop up.

And so you made a promise to a partner to call every day at exactly 12am and you are killing yourself to meet this target when it is obvious it will fail at some point, why don’t you adjust your initial plans to make room for enough rest for yourself.

You made plans to pray every morning at home and due to your busy schedule, the only free time you have in the day is when you walk to the lorry station to pick a car.

Please what is stopping you from utilising that ten or fifteen minutes walk to meet your plans materialise?

You planned to go back to school after national service but insufficient resources is causing you to give up. Can you not revisit and make adjustments and counter plans?

This is not to say that falling short or intentionally failing to meet a target is acceptable because you can adjust to redeem yourself.

No, this is to say that not all things will fall in line the way you perceive and plan.

Your vigorous planning will have to undergo changes to accommodate new developments and so be open to recognising when changes has to be made and make them.

Recognise that you are unique and so will always have a different approach to the popular or most acclaimed methods.

All the same ineffective planning is not necessarily bad; it is a very practical classroom where you pick real life lessons from your experiences.

Soo many plans for the new year has been made ranging from different categories.

We do not know what the year holds and definitely there will be hiccups but does it mean the plans made should be abandoned?

The driving force, the catalyst is determination. If you are not ready to say 'come what may', your to do list will be repeating the same items year after year.

And so to conclude, futile plans may seem as a waste of time or an opportunity to learn but whichever option the final perceiving will reflect is dependent on the individual actor’s initial idea or thought, the goal, its intended purpose and the magnitude of the benefits to be acquired and its successfully completion.

Benefits can come in the positive or negative, and so the ball still remains in your court.

However the final result will be dependent on your actions and decisions at that critical juncture where new ideas, thoughts and ways of achieving the goal crops up different from the approach chosen during the planning stage.

Determine to achieve that height, pedestal you aim at. Determine to grab and make reality that vision you alone clearly see.

So what will it be, still futile planning or fruitful planning!

Cheers!
