A very simple and popular song that is not so simple. This is a very loaded and powerful song.

I have a very big God. As if having a God is not enough, he is even big. And always by my side. Always!

It is this confidence that is expressed in the confession yea though I walk through the valley of shadow and death, I fear no evil. Why? For you are with me. He's by my side, right by my side.

A very impactful sermon inspired today's write up. The myriad of virtues, privileges and power bestowed on us children of God is usually underutilized or sometimes not even acknowledged.

 And I will bless (do good for, benefit) those who bless you, and I will curse [that is, subject to My wrath and judgement] the one who curses (despises, dishonors, has contempt for) you, Genesis 12:3a (Amplified).

As the descendants of Abraham enjoying the blessings of our father, the above scripture states the conditions God has set for others' interaction with us as well as His responses to these interactions.

There is no need therefore to fight and quarrel with people who belittle your achievements and pursuits, people who despise and have great contempt for you, often time without any justifiable cause.

The wrath and judgement of God will deal accordingly with them. In Numbers 12, where Aaron and Miriam, the siblings of Moses, mocked him because of his wife's heritage God dealt with Miriam without Moses praying or beseeching God to intervene on his behalf.

The defender of the defenseless, father to the fatherless, provider of all our needs and our protector, He is the one by my side.

Who is by your side?

The young man Joseph knew who was by his side and so when his brothers despised him, he had God as his avenger. And when Pharaoh honored him his land was blessed.

Indeed we have a very big God who is always by our side, it is up to us to immerse ourselves in this knowledge, operate in the power thereof and in all circumstances be conscious of the fact that he's right there.
